It’s been well documented that Miguel Cabrera had a bad year in 2017. If the Detroit Tigers are going to do anything this year, Miggy needs to bounce back.

Cabrera had the worst slash line of his career last year at .249/.329/.399. That’s far below his career average of .317/.395/.553. His 16 home runs and 60 RBIs were his lowest totals since his rookie year in 2003 with the Florida Marlins.

We’ve heard reports that Miggy has been working hard this offseason to get ready for 2018. This morning the man himself posted this video of one his workouts on Twitter:

Cabrera looks as if he’s in the best shape we’ve seen in quite some time. Cabrera looks noticeably slimmer and isn’t showing any signs of the injuries that have plagued him the last few years.  He spoke at the end of last season about his plan to change his workouts:

“I lifted too heavy,” he said. “That’s why I got my injury in Spring Training. But I didn’t think it was a big deal. I kept playing with that, because that’s the way I am. I never want to stop playing. But I have to learn from this and try to take care of myself better.”

He looks ready to report to Spring Training and hopefully will maintain his health this year. Tigers Spring Training is set to start on February 13th when pitchers and catchers report. The first full team workouts start on February 19th.

Miguel Cabrera is an elder statesman now, but the young guys on this team need him to return to being an offensive leader if they have any chance at success this year.

Nation, do you think the two-time AL MVP and 11-time All-Star returns to form in 2018?
