The day has finally arrived as Matt Patricia will finally be officially introduced as the next head coach of the Detroit Lions. The introductory press conference is scheduled for 3 pm ET and can be seen live on DetroitLions.com and on Periscope.

Patricia, of course, comes to the Lions after serving as the defensive coordinator for the Super Bowl runner-up New England Patriots.

In case you have been in a bubble, you probably know Patricia because of the bushy beard he has sported while calling the Patriots defense.

But it looks like that may be changing now that he is going to be the head coach of the Lions.

Prior to the press conference, Patricia was spotted at the Lions facilities and as you can see in the photo below, he got a nice haircut and trimmed up his beard for the occasion.

It’s safe to say Patricia cleans up rather nicely but I have to admit that I would have liked to see him keep his epic beard.

It was no surprise whatsoever but on Monday the Detroit Lions were finally able to announce Matt Patricia as their next head coach.

Patricia, of course, is the former defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. On Sunday, the Patriots lost in Super Bowl LII to the Philadelphia Eagles in what was one of the greatest Super Bowls in NFL history.

Following the news, John Whitaker (AKA @Wrath_Of_John) posted the following Lion King-themed welcome video for Patricia and it is amazing.

The Detroit Lions have officially named former New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia their next head coach, taking over for the recently fired Jim Caldwell.

However, just the day before, Patricia’s Patriots gave up 41 points to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII, ending New England’s reign as defending champions. Following the game, Patricia decided to keep the focus on his then current team rather than his future endeavors in Detroit.
