Though the NFL free agency period does not officially begin until 4 p.m. EST on Wednesday, news was breaking everywhere on Tuesday about teams agreeing to deals with plenty of the top free agents around the league.

The Detroit Lions were one of the teams in on the action as they agreed to terms with LB Devon Kennard (three-years, $18.75 million) and LB Christian Jones (two-years, $7.75 million). For those hoping for Lions general manager Bob Quinn to make a big splash, that was not the case on Tuesday as neither Kennard nor Jones are considered at Top 100 free agent according to NFL.com.

But as we know, Quinn takes his time when it comes to making moves as proven in his first season as Lions GM when he agreed to terms with Marvin Jones just before the signing period officially began. Quinn showed patience again last season as he waited until Day 2 of free agency before announcing the signing of Rick Wagner.

You can bet that Wednesday will be another busy day around the league and the Lions will certainly be busy.

According to a report from Josina Anderson, former Pro-Bowl running back Frank Gore has confirmed to her that will meet with the Lions on Wednesday.

Gore (5-9, 215), who will be 35-years-old when the 2018 season begins, has played 13 years in the NFL since being selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 3rd Round of the 2005 NFL Draft. During that time, he has racked up 14,026 rushing yards (No. 5 all-time) and 77 rushing touchdowns.

In 2017, Gore started all 16 games for the Indianapolis Colts, rushing for 961 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown.

Quinn has vowed that he intends to add a running back during the offseason to help improve what was the worst rushing attack in the NFL in 2017. He has already met with running backs Jonathan Stewart (agreed to deal with N.Y. Giants) and DeMarco Murray, who is reportedly expected to meet with the Seattle Seahawks next.

  1. A 35 year old running back , ok , can he run without his walker? What kind of cash are they planning on putting up for the geriatric backfield addition , this tank may be running on fumes or delusions of yester year . He was the best in his time and is due the respect he has earned but the questions , however harsh are real and throwing cap funds at a former running back does not make good football sense or teams , just ask Lions fans from their experience of past FA debacles.
