He may only be 5’6″ tall but Houston Astros All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve is one of the best players in Major League Baseball. Altuve and his teammates are currently trying to wrap up the regular season so they can make a run at back-to-back World Series titles.

But for the Astros, climbing to the pinnacle of Major League Baseball was not easy, nor was it easy for their fans. In fact, as recent as 2013, Altuve’s third season in the league, the Astros were easily the worst team in baseball as they finished the season 51-111. But the team had a plan that consisted of building a roster that would contend for championships by first building their farm system.
This is something the Detroit Tigers are currently attempting to do themselves. After shedding a ton of payroll by trading many of their star players, GM Al Avila has managed to begin strengthening the Tigers minor league system, something he knows must happen first before the team can get back to contending for titles.
The rebuild will be difficult for Tigers fans to wait out, but the hope is that it is worth the wait.
Following Wednesday’s win over the Tigers, Altuve had a message for Tigers fans.

Altuve is 100% on the money. The climb will be tough and sometimes painful, but in the end, the Tigers will hopefully win their fifth World Series title and maybe more.
