Highly touted forward Filip Zadina skated in his second NHL pre-season game for the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, and it’ll be one that he remembers for a long time.
He blasted a one-time shot past Boston Bruins goaltender Zane McIntyre off a pass from Niklas Kronwall, exciting the crowd at Little Caesars Arena.

He was stopped by McIntyre moments earlier, but quickly made the most of his second chance opportunity. Welcome to the NHL, Filip Zadina!
BONUS CONTENT: THE NEXT DETROIT RED WINGS CAPTAIN SHOULD BE…..
The players I believe are in the running to become the 37th Captain in Detroit Red Wings’ history are Dylan Larkin, Darren Helm, Niklas Kronwall, and Frans Neilsen.
The player I see as the next captain for the Detroit Red Wings for the 2018-19 season is LW Darren Helm.
Helm, who is entering into his 12th season with the Red Wings, has proven to be a more versatile player year in and year out with his ability to play both wing and center, while also being a key contributor in the team’s success (which they haven’t had much of in recent seasons).
What makes Helm a good choice for Captain is his ability to work hard on the ice during every shift and doing everything necessary to help the Wings win. Whether it is forcing loose pucks, setting up his teammates for a pass or a late goal, or to be that extra fresh voice in the locker room, those are the qualities you’d expect from a team leader.
Helm is one guy you look at to not only help a hockey club be successful, but his teammates can learn a lot from his knowledge and experience when it comes to team-related activities, from locker room conversations to the start of every game.
