ESPN’s NFL Week 4 Power Rankings are a complete joke

Week 3 of the 2018 NFL regular season is officially in the books which means that everybody and their brother (who thinks they are an expert) is releasing their next set of Power Rankings.

On Tuesday, ESPN released their Week 4 Power Rankings and they are a complete joke.

I am not going to lie, my biggest beef with these “rankings” are mostly about our Detroit Lions. ESPN has the Lions ranked No. 26 out of 32, up four spots from a week ago. But it is not as much as where the Lions are ranked as it is about some of the teams ranked ahead of them.

First of all, the Lions are currently ranked behind the No. 23 Cleveland Browns and the No. 24 Indianapolis Colts, which is completely inaccurate. Also ahead of the Lions are the Seattle Seahawks (No. 21) and the Dallas Cowboys (No. 22). Personally, I believe the Lions should be ranked higher than all four of those teams.

My other beef is that the Patriots are ranked No. 6 despite being 1-2 and looking like garbage against the Lions on Sunday Night Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers are No. 7 despite looking unimpressive so far this season.

I get it, the “experts” at ESPN are not exactly known for producing good content, but how hard is it to take more than 30 seconds to compile some accurate rankings?

Detroit Lions’ fans booed him, but Matt Patricia defends decision to kick field goal

When the Detroit Lions hosted the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football, most experts thought that Tom Brady and company would leave town with a victory. That is why many fans were upset with Matt Patricia after he decided to kick a field goal rather than go for it on fourth-and-inches early in the game.

After forcing the Patriots to punt on the opening drive of the game, Matthew Stafford and the Lions offense went on a 12 play 65-yard drive that ended with a Matt Prater field goal. The decision to attempt a field goal was made by Patricia after Stafford’s pass to Golden Tate to the Patriots’ 21 yard line came up just inches short of the first down.
