When the Detroit Red Wings open up their 2018-2019 campaign on Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena, they will have the entire city of Detroit behind them. That includes the team that plays down the road, the Detroit Lions.
On Thursday, some of the Detroit Lions’ players, including Matthew Stafford and Golden Tate, took the time to record a “good luck” message for the Red Wings.
Check it out.

Green Bay Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers loves him some ‘Matty Stafford’
This coming Sunday, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will invade Ford Field to take on Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.
Rodgers has long been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and is considered to be one of the greatest signal-callers of all time. After all, he has two NFL MVP awards, has been to the Pro Bowl six times, and has a Super Bowl championship to his name.
Stafford, on the other hand, despite putting up gaudy numbers throughout his career, has yet to really get the respect he has earned. He has yet to lead the Lions to a playoff victory and many (who are clueless and do not understand that football is a team sport) blame him.
Well, Rodgers happens to be quite the fan of Stafford and he is not afraid to say so.
From Detroit Free Press:
“I’ve long enjoyed matching up with Matty,” Rogers said. “He’s a fantastic quarterback and has done it for a long time and I’ve enjoyed competing against him. He’s one of the guys I really respect and enjoy watching whenever we have a common opponent, which we usually do being division foes. Always enjoy watching his film.”
Though the two are not best buddies off of the field, Rodgers has great respect for Stafford and what he can do on the football field.
