WATCH: In horrifying Texas football game, Friday Night Lights turns into a hospital trip!

A Texas football player sustained serious brain and bodily injuries following nightmarish on-field behavior from opposing player.

Initially reported by Fox 4 out of Waco, Texas, last week’s matchup between Texas football rivals, Burleson and Waco, turned disastrous when Burleson’s quarterback was targeted throughout the game, repeatedly being punched, kicked, choked and dragged around between plays.  The mother and teammates of the victim await to hear the results of the investigation being conducted by the local University Interscholastic League.

Waco immediately distanced itself in an interview with Fox 4, saying, “Obviously, we do not condone the behavior depicted in the videos posted on Facebook,” also adding that “the player faced consequences mandated by UIL and additional consequences imposed by the district.”

Jennifer Gower, the mother of the injured Burleson quarterback, told Fox 4 that she felt the punishment for the Burleson players was entirely inadequate.  She pointed out that he was merely ejected from that game and the first half of the next game, while her son has to miss three games while they wait for his brain injury to subside.

“I don’t feel like that’s acceptable at all,” Gower said.

Nation, what are your thoughts on this type of behavior?  What measures should the school or local law enforcement take against the perpetrators?  What can coaches do to prevent this from happening in high school football games here in Michigan?

MUST SEE: Deer helps high school football player score touchdown

Generally, deer are unable to play the game of football. But in this case, this furry guy must have gotten MVP for the game; Most Valuable Prancer. (I am so sorry).

During a football game at Coupeville High School in Whidbey Island, Washington, Sean Toomey-Stout received a kickoff and began the return. Suddenly, a wild deer galloped onto the field mid-play, distracting the crowd and many of the players on the field, understandably so. Toomey-Stout used this distraction to his advantage, returning the kickoff all the way to the other end of the field for the touchdown.
