Most people would agree that one of the greatest moments in their life was watching the birth of their children. Though it can be a scary moment for some, there is just something about being next to your wife and watching your child enter the world that takes your breath away.
In a story by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, he tells about a day in late July that Detroit Lions cornerback Nevin Lawson will never forget.

Lawson, according to the story, had just completed his first training camp practice when he got a call from his mother-in-law telling him that his wife was about to give birth to their first son. Unfortunately, his wife was in Florida and he was in Michigan which meant he would not have time to see the birth in person. Luckily, modern day technology (in this case, Facebook Live) allowed Lawson to watch the birth of his son in real time.
From Detroit Free Press:
“I talked to her right before I got to the airport and she was fine, calm and everything,” Lawson said. “And then as soon as I got ready to go on the plane, her mom called me, ‘Nevin, Nevin, she’s ready.’ So I’m like, ‘What?’ And she was like, ‘Yeah.’ She flipped the camera over, she’s screaming, getting ready to give birth and all that stuff.”
“They were loading the plane and I just sat there and just watched the whole thing, man,” Lawson said. “It was definitely different watching it from FaceTime, but it still was a good feeling. I did wish I was there to just be there, and I know my wife, it’s important for her for me to be there. But at the end of the day, she knows what it is and she knows what comes with the job.”
