Michigan State football to play home-and-home series with Washington

Michigan State football has announced a home-and-home series with the University of Washington. The two-game series will start with a September 9th, 2028 meeting at Husky Stadium. The series will then make its way to East Lansing with a September 6th, 2031 game at Spartan Stadium.

Michigan State and Washington have only played each other three times previously in school history, with the Huskies leading the series two games to one. The most recent game was the1997 Aloha Bowl where UW defeated MSU 51-23. The teams have met twice in the regular season with Washington defeating MSU 42-16 in 1970 and the Spartans beating the Huskies 27-11 one year prior in 1969.

While you’ll have to wait until 2028 for the MSU-UW series to start, a home-and-home series between the Wolverines and the Huskies will kick off in 2020. Michigan will travel to Husky Stadium on September 5th, 2020 for the first game, while the Huskies’ return trip to Ann Arbor will be on September 11th, 2021.

Mark Dantonio, other MSU officials sued by former recruiting director Curtis Blackwell

Former Michigan State recruiting director Curtis Blackwell believes that his contract was not renewed as a retaliation, and now he’s suing.

He filed a lawsuit in Grand Rapids in federal court against Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio and other and current MSU officials over what he believes an unlawful arrest and a retaliatory job termination over his lack of cooperation with a sexual assault investigation. The suit is seeking $150,000 in damages in addition to lawyer fees and other punitive damages.

In addition to Dantonio, former athletic director Mark Hollis and former school president Lou Anna K. Simon were also named in the suit.

Blackwell was found to have violated a school policy in 2017 for not reporting information learned about a sexual assault allegation against members of the program. He was suspended in February of 2017 for, as the university described it, “several allegations regarding your conduct.”
