If Devin Bush wins the award he’ll be the first Wolverine to achieve the accomplishment in the 34 years that the award has been presented. Bush is also the only representative on the list from the B1G and would be the first player from the conference to win the award since Ohio State‘s James Laurinaitis did it back in 2007.
Here’s the list of all five finalists:
- Devin Bush, Michigan
- Josh Allen, Kentucky
- Tre Lamar, Clemson
- Dylan Moses, Alabama
- Devin White, LSU
Last Saturday Bush had one of the best performance’s of his career, racking up a season-high 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss against Indiana. He’s been a major contributor for the Wolverines on defense all season long boasting a team-high 73 tackles, including nine tackles for a loss and five sacks.
Facing Ohio State
Devin Bush also got media attention today when talking about his thoughts regarding Michigan’s chances of beating Ohio State on Saturday while wearing a Revenge Tour hat.
Lost in the shuffle of Karan Higdon’s quote was Devin Bush’s similar proclamation: “We haven’t beaten Ohio State in a while. That’s something we wanna do and that’s something we’re gonna do.” pic.twitter.com/Knv7q2UyYs

In the clip above, Bush states that: “We haven’t beaten Ohio State in while. That’s something we wanna do and that’s something we’re gonna do.”
Ohio State is the last team left on Michigan’s Revenge Tour, having won the last six meetings between these two fierce rivals. As Bush says in the clip below “You can feel the hate.”

If Bush is right and the Wolverines beat the Buckeyes on Saturday, it will be their first win in Columbus since 2000. With both a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game and the College Football Playoffs on the line, this Saturday’s game will be one of the most exciting in recent memory.
A win and a solid performance would also go a long way in helping Devin Bush win the Butkus Award.

Michigan RB Karan Higdon guarantees win over Ohio State
When it comes to guarantees in sports, whether it be at the college or professional level, many seem to prefer to remain quiet. After all, why give the other team bulletin board material?
Well, one player who could care less about giving his opponent some extra motivation is Michigan running back Kara Higdon.
On Monday, Higdon was asked if he would guarantee a victory over Ohio State and the Wolverines’ senior did not hesitate.
