The Detroit Tigers have reportedly signed another veteran arm, this time in the form of free agent righty Tyson Ross.

The deal is a $5.75MM guarantee for a single season, with a readily achievable roster bonus that would add another $250K, per Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter). Ross had a good start to his major league career but then was stricken with injuries for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He got back on track last season throwing 149 2/3 innings of 4.15 ERA ball.

It looks like the Tigers are doing a good job of obtaining some short-term arm talent that they can either cut ties with at the end of the season if more young arms develop, or, as they did with Mike Fiers, if they can get some performance out of these veterans they could turn around and pick up some more prospects with a summer trade.
The ball club is clearly in rebuild mode this off-season and it is going to be an interesting watch to see how GM Al Avila moves the pieces around to build for the future.
