When the Michigan Wolverines face the Florida Gators on December 29th in the Peach Bowl they will be without another star player. Devin Bush announced today, via Twitter, that he will not be playing in the bowl game due to a hip injury after previously reporting that he would be on the field.

Bush went on to also announce that he will be leaving Ann Arbor after his Junior season to enter the 2019 NFL Draft joining Rashan Gary as the most recent defensive starter to declare for the draft.
Devin Bush leaves Michigan with a long list of awards received including his Consensus All-American selection for 2018, Big Ten Linebacker of the Year for 2018, and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. Bush finished this season with 38 tackles and 5 sacks and his sideline to sideline speed will be greatly missed by the Wolverines.
Overall, you cannot blame these players for leaving early. As a fan, of course, it is disappointing, but the money behind these bowl games are really the only reason for their existence outside of seeing teams that would not otherwise play each other compete. Just ask players like Jake Butt who likely lost millions of dollars by playing in a meaningless bowl game in 2016 and tore his ACL. In a sport that has shown to have the shortest career length of all professional sports, why risk losing your value before you ever get paid?
