Following the trade between the Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Lakers, Reggie Bullock took to Twitter to post a heartfelt message expressing his love and appreciation for the Piston’s organization and its fans.
My love for the city was nothing that I could explain over a tweet, THE LOVE EXTENDS BEYOND! @DetroitPistons thanks for a Lifetime MEMORY! Made me who I am today 🙏

“My love for the city was nothing that I could explain over a tweet, THE LOVE EXTENDS BEYOND! @DetroitPistons thanks for a Lifetime MEMORY! Made me who I am today ????”
According to multiple reports, the Detroit Pistons agreed to trade Reggie Bullock to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and a second-round pick. Bullock, who is 27 and will become a free agent this summer, spent four years with the Pistons, averaging 8.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. This season, the six-year veteran is currently averaging 12.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
Los Angeles Lakers Analysis
The move comes after the Lakers lost 136-94 to the Indiana Pacers. The Lakers are currently 10th in the Western Conference, and with less than 30 games remaining, they will need all the help they can get if they want to make a playoff run.
Following multiple unsuccessful trade offers to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anothy Davis, the Lakers appear to be switching to plan B. It has been reported that the Lakers will be targeting 3-point shooters with expiring contracts before Thursday’s trade deadline. Reggie Bullock fits the criteria. He’s shooting 38% from beyond the arc this year and is in the final year of his contract.
As the Lakers try to surround LeBron James with shooters, they’ll reportedly be interested in players like Trevor Ariza (Washington Wizards), Wayne Ellington (Miami Heat), and Terrance Ross (Orlando Magic).
Detroit Pistons Analysis
From the Pistons perspective, it may appear to be a light haul for one of the team’s most productive players, but more moves could be coming. They’ve already agreed in principle to a trade that would send Stanley Johnson to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Thon Maker.
The move also allows the Pistons to replenish draft assets after surrendering all their second-round picks from 2020-23.
Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk hasn’t seen a lot of playing time for the Lakers this season, appearing in only 38 games. In his first year of NBA action, the Ukrainian rookie is averaging 3.2 points in 10.7 minutes per game.
At 24-29, the Pistons are one game behind the Miami Heat for the Eastern Conference’s eighth and final playoff spot. Perhaps these roster changes will help the team make a push for the playoffs?
