The Detroit Red Wings have made the decision to waive forward Martin Frk for the second time. He was previously waived in October of 2016 and claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes, but was subsequently waived again and re-claimed by the Red Wings.

With one goal and four assists in 25 games this season, it’s been a struggle for Frk. He was re-signed this summer after putting up 11 goals and 14 assists in 68 games last year thanks to his strong right-handed shot, but he wasn’t able to find any kind of consistency this year.

Originally drafted 49th overall in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Red Wings, he was signed to a three-year entry level deal. During the duration of his deal, he played with the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Toledo Walleye.

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock interested in Red Wings forward

Former Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock may not be coaching in Hockeytown anymore, but that isn’t stopping him from wanting one of his former players on his current Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to TSN, the Leafs are reportedly interested in trading for forward Luke Glendening, who was a Babcock favorite during his time in Detroit. Glendening was also on Toronto’s radar last season, though no deal materialized.

Glendening has two years remaining on his contract at $1.8 million per year, and the Leafs already have tight cap space with the recent re-signing of forward Auston Matthews. They’ll also be trying to re-sign Mitch Marner, Kasperi Kapanen, Andreas Johnsson, and Par Lindholm this summer.
