Greg Schiano
Greg Schiano has stepped down as the presumed defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots.
Schiano, who was hired in February, was thought to be taking on the DC job after Brian Flores moved on to be the head coach at Miami.
This decision comes one day after the Patriots hired former linebacker, Jerod Mayo, to work under Schiano. The Patriots defensive coaching staff now consists of Mayo, Bob Fraser (reportedly), and Steve Belichick, Bill’s son.
Could Schiano have been turned off by the recent scandal from owner Bob Kraft? That incident broke just two weeks after Schiano was hired. Or, perhaps, Belichick and Schiano didn’t mesh well.

Schiano and Belichick both gave statements:
Statement from Greg Schiano:
“I have informed Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick that I am stepping down from my position at the Patriots. This is not the result of any one event, but rather a realization that I need to spend more time on my faith and family. I don’t want to look back years from now and wish I had done things differently. Therefore, I am taking time away from the game to recalibrate my priorities.”
From Bill Belichick:
“I respect Coach Schiano greatly and appreciate his contributions to our staff and team. He is a friend who we support completely.”

In any case, Greg Schiano is out, and now the Patriots will have to find another coach to take over the defense.
