WATCH: A tribute to Tiger Stadium

The old corner. The cathedral to baseball fans from Detroit. Tiger Stadium. Growing up a Tigers fan you know of the old white box of a stadium that was situated on the corner of Michigan and Trumbull. Even with obstructed views from the beams that held the roof up, no other stadium quite had the romance of Tigers Stadium. Sure, the new parks are flashy and updated; but Tigers Stadium was baseball.

The corner saw the likes of Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Al Kaline, Hammerin’ Hank Greenberg, and a slew of other greats. Watch below as tribute is paid to the stadium, the greats who have dug cleats into its grass, and even a broadcaster who made some pretty memorable calls.

Heading into the 2017 Major League Baseball season, Justin Verlander‘s goal, like any other year, was to win the World Series. Well, that’s exactly what he accomplished, except it was not with the team he started the season with.

With the Detroit Tigers out of the playoff hunt, they decided to try and trade Verlander to a contender before the MLB trade deadline. The only problem was that JV had a full no-trade clause in his contract which meant he could veto any potential deal the Tigers wanted to make unless he signed off. 40 minutes before the stroke of midnight, Verlander agreed to be dealt to the Houston Astros for a trio of minor league prospects.
