Game Notes:
The Tigers pounded their way to four home runs (McCann, Upton, Avila, and Mahtook). But they also received contributions from just about everyone in the lineup. Recent call-up, Jim Adduci, had another three-hit game for the Tigers, his second in two games. Adduci is now 6-10 with the Tigers, and is a pleasant surprise for an ailing lineup.
Combined the teams had 40 hits on the night, 28 runs were scored, and a lot of pitchers were used. The 40 hits set a new record for a nine-inning game at Comerica Park.
Jordan Zimmermann was again acceptable. He pitched six innings, gave up another five runs, spread over 11 hits, but had zero walks. For a team that is struggling in the base on balls category of the score sheet (seven given up by the bullpen tonight), seeing a zero on that line for Zim is welcomed. The bullpen was not sharp, and will definitely need to figure out how to limit damage in these lopsided affairs. However, the Tigers now have won three straight going into their matchup tomorrow.

Looking Ahead:
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow night for the second game of this three-game series. Daniel Norris (1-1, 3.71 ERA) squares off against James Paxton (2-0, 1.78 ERA). Hopefully, the Tigers saved enough runs for tomorrow’s game against a tough lefty. First pitch is at 7:10 EST on Fox Sports Detroit and 97.1 The Ticket
