Boy, talk about shots fired!
The recently completed NFL Draft saw the University of Michigan lead all schools with 11 players selected, including two in the first round for the first time since 2005. This means that since returning to Ann Arbor, head coach Jim Harbaugh has coached 14 NFL draftees.
However, not everyone was impressed by the feat. Florida State assistant coach Tim Brewster took to Twitter to announce that he isn’t buying into the hype, and in doing so, may have provided some good bulletin-board material for Michigan to use.

Of course, the tweet is also a not-so-subtle reminder of Michigan’s 33-32 defeat at the hands of Brewster’s Seminoles in the 2016 Orange Bowl. The memorable contest saw a last-minute touchdown pass from Deondre Francois to Nyqwan Murray to seal Michigan’s fate.
While Michigan enjoyed tremendous draft success, Florida State’s draft class only produced four players and none in the first round. By comparison, Michigan only had three players drafted last season. They had 10 players drafted in 1972 and 1974, while they had nine drafted in 1975, and seven in 1976, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1991, 2007 and 2008.
Michigan fans will remember Brewster’s name from his unsuccessful coaching stint with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, during which he amassed a pedestrian 15-30 record over four years (2007-2010). He lost his only two matchups against the Wolverines by a combined score of 63-16 – ouch. He was fired midway through the 2010 season.

Jabrill Peppers was selected 25th overall by the Cleveland Browns, followed by Taco Charlton being taken at 28th overall by the Dallas Cowboys.
Among the other former Wolverines to be drafted include Chris Wormley (#74, Baltimore), Jourdan Lewis (#92, Dallas), Delano Hill (#95, Seattle), Amara Darboh (#106, Seattle), Ben Gedeon (#120, Minnesota), Ryan Glasgow (#138, Cincinnati), Jehu Chesson (#139, Kansas City), Jake Butt (#145, Denver), and Jeremy Clark (#197, New York Jets).
Additionally, seven former Wolverines were signed by NFL teams as undrafted free-agents.
NFL rookie mini-camps begin this week.
