1967 was a devasting year for the city of Detroit. With riots plaguing the streets, armed guard lining the streets, and a martial-law-type rule governing the streets, the city was broken.
When the 1968 baseball season rolled around, the Tigers kept winning. Their heroics on the field led to some healing off of it, as the Tigers became a bridge that spanned the races and brought a city together.
