Justin Verlander has been moved up in the Tigers rotation for their weekend series against the Chicago White Sox. Verlander was scheduled to pitch next Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels on six-days rest but instead will now pitch on four-days rest.

The Tigers dropped three of four to the White Sox the last time the two teams met.

Verlander will face left-handed pitcher David Holmberg on Sunday. Holmberg has started just one game this season which was against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. He has tossed a 2.51 ERA and has eight strikeouts in nine games.

This is a move that seems to be in the best interest of the Tigers, who have today and Monday off.
