Wheaties cereal has been dubbed throughout the years as the “breakfast of champions”. While there’s no word on what the Calder Cup champion Grand Rapids Griffins breakfast routines look like, we now have an unofficial “dinner of champions”, and it’s an unlikely source.
Following their 4-3 win over the Syracuse Crunch at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids to claim their second Calder Cup victory in four years, they celebrated with a celebratory victory meal at McDonald’s.

The Griffins, who are the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, racked up a reported $400 tab at their local golden arches. That’s certainly a lot of Big Macs, McNuggets, fries, and Quarter-Pounders.
