At 63-32, the Houston Astros are sitting pretty as they hold a 15.5 game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the American League West.
But that does not mean they are completely satisfied with their pitching staff despite it having the seventh best team ERA in Major League Baseball.
On Thursday, Jon Morosi tweeted out that the Astros, who are in talks with Sonny Gray of the Oakland Athletics, are still interested in Detroit Tigers starter Justin Verlander and closer Justin Wilson.
Sources: While #Astros are in talks with #Athletics on Sonny Gray, they remain interested in Justin Verlander/Justin Wilson deal w/ Detroit.

In order for the Tigers to deal Verlander, chances are they will have to eat some of his remaining contract. That is something that Tiger GM Al Avila is willing to do.
Avila #Tigers GM said he is open-minded on all deals & will seriously consider anything/ everything including eating money on big contracts

According to Ken Rosenthal, Justin Wilson continues to draw interest from multiple teams including the Astros, Red Sox, Dodgers, and Nationals.
Sources: #Nationals among teams in mix for #Tigers' J. Wilson. Won't move Robles, Fedde, Soto. #RedSox, #Dodgers, #Astros, others also in.

With the MLB trade deadline right around the corner, it could be just a matter of time before the Tigers unload one of their most beloved of all-time, Justin Verlander.
