Early today, Bob Wojnowski of the Detroit News published a piece saying that the perfect destination for Justin Verlander is the New York Yankees. Though it would pain many Tigers fans greatly to see JV suit up in the Yankee pin stripes, Wojo certainly made some good points as to why it could happen.

Well, in the latest report by Bob Nightengale, he claims there are a couple of teams still “kicking the tires” on Verlander, but those teams do not include the Yankees. According to Nightengale, both the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers are still interested in the former AL MVP but no deal is imminent.

Nightengale also added that the Cubs could be willing to pay all of Verlander’s contract but if that’s the case, they would not include a prospect.

It’s important to note that Verlander has a no-trade clause in his contract which means he would have to ok any trade which would send him to another city.
