The Detroit Pistons announced today that Flagstar Bank will be the sponsor represented on their jerseys this coming season.

The NBA decided to put sponsors on the jerseys this season as a way to boost revenue. However, there are some regulations on how the patches fit on the jerseys. According to Bailey Brautigan of Forbes magazine, “All patches will be 2.5 square inches or smaller, and all deals will be structured as three-year trial periods…”
We can now say goodbye to the NBA uniform as we know it. This is the first step in a what seems to be more sponsorships placed on uniforms; hopefully, the rest of professional sports don’t follow suit. You can see the rest of the NBA’s sponsors here.
