It’s a special weekend in Major League Baseball and for fans of the Detroit Tigers. Six more all-time greats to play the sport — including former Tigers teammates Alan Trammell and Jack Morris — will join a fraternity unlike any other.

For any sports fan, not just exclusive to baseball, visiting the National Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York should be on their bucket list. Fans of the Detroit Tigers will recognize countless names who donned the old English D in their career but very few, if any, are more iconic than Al Kaline.

Kaline spent 22 seasons as a major leaguer, all with the Tigers. He collected All-Star honors in 18 of his 22 seasons and was a 10-time recipient of the Gold Glove along the way, in addition to his contributions to the team en route to their 1968 World Series title. His 399 home runs as a Tiger are the most in club history.

In 1980, Mr. Tiger became the 10th player ever (at the time) to be inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in his first year eligible on the ballot. Below is a video of his induction speech in Cooperstown.
