With Week 1 of the 2017 college football season less than a month away, fans around the country are started to get just a bit excited about their favorite team’s chances of earning a spot in this year’s College Football Playoff.

On Thursday, the Amway Coaches Poll was released and only one team from Michigan (not surprisingly) cracked the Top 25.

As you can see, the No. 1 team in the country is the Alabama Crimson Tide, who lost to Clemson in the CFP Championship Game last season

Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines check in at No. 9 in the poll despite losing quite a few starters from last years team. The voters must realize that though Michigan did lose a ton of starters, they do have plenty of talent returning that played big roles on the 2016 team, not to mention, one heck of an incoming class of freshman including the “Fab Five 2.0.”

Though no other teams from Michigan cracked the Top 25, Western Michigan, who will be going into their first season after P.J. Fleck left for Minnesota, received eight total votes while Mark Dantonio’s Michigan State Spartans received one vote. (Maybe Dantonio voted for his own team?)

As you can see by looking up and down the Top 25, the Big Ten looks to be one of the best, if not the best, conferences in the nation in 2017. Joining Michigan in the rankings is Ohio State (No. 2), Penn State (No. 6), and Wisconsin (No. 10).

It’s safe to say the Big Ten East could be an absolute blood bath this season as it includes Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State, all who are ranked within the top six teams in America!
