There are no specifics on how many teams nor which teams specifically put in a claim for the 34-year-old Kinsler, who is penciled into the Tigers’ lineup for their Friday tilt at home against the Twins.
Here is how it works now: the Tigers now can a) arrange a trade with the claiming team within two business days, b) cancel the waiver and retain Kinsler, or c) simply allow the claiming team to take Kinsler (and his contract) for no return.
If multiple teams put in a claim for Kinsler, business priority depends on the overall record by league; beginning with the waiving club’s league (in this case, the American League).
Kinsler is owed a little over $3 million for the remainder of the 2017 season. His contract also includes a club option for 2018 worth $10M, or he can be bought out for $5M.
Confirming @JonHeyman report that Kinsler was claimed off revocable waivers. Not likely that Kinsler is moved, though.

(08.09.17): The trade deadline has come and gone and other than J.D. Martinez, the biggest names on the Detroit Tigers remain in Motown, but that does not mean they will for the remainder of the season.
A week ago, it was announced that Justin Verlander had been placed on revocable waivers by the Tigers. He has since cleared those waivers but his name continues to be included in trade rumors, especially with the Houston Astros.
On Wednesday, news broke that yet another Tiger has been placed on revocable waivers. According to Ken Rosenthal, Ian Kinsler is the next Tiger to be added to the mix.

Rosenthal also noted that the Milwaukee Brewers are one of the teams interested in Kinsler’s services but they are reportedly on his no-trade clause.

In case you are not familiar with how revocable waivers work, there is really no risk to the Tigers. If Kinsler is claimed by any team, the Tigers could simply decide to pull him back off of waivers. They would also have the option to work out a trade with the claiming team within a couple of days. The third option would be to just allow Kinsler to go to the claiming team for nothing, though that is highly unlikely.
If you are a huge Kinsler fan, this is nothing to really be alarmed about considering teams place players on revocable waivers every season and they don’t go anywhere for the most part.
In fact, before the 2017 season is said and done, it’s a safe bet to assume that a majority of the Tigers players will be placed on revocable waivers at some point.
