One of the two free agents hired by the Detroit Lions to help boost their right-hand offense, T.J Lang, has been missing in action for a while now. Lang is unable to participate in many of the team’s practice sessions due to a hip injury he sustained in January. Of the eight camp practices the team has had, Lang has missed nearly half of them. Many Detroit Lions’ fans are worried that Lang’s absence during practice might impact negatively on the team’s performance during the season. Interestingly, this is not the attitude that the team is projecting to the world. Read on to find more betting tips for wagering.
Rick Wagner’s Confidence
One would think that Rick Wagner, whose performance is likely to be negatively impacted by Lang’s absence on the field, would be quite worried and even uncomfortable. Well, this is really not the case. Rick is actually quite calm and confident that Lang’s lack of practice will not cost the team much.
Although Lang’s physical injury prevents him from joining the rest of the team in the field, it does not prevent him from engaging in meetings. This is where most of the mental preparation takes place, and Lang participates as well as any of the players. The walk- throughs that the two have is enough to reassure Wagner that they will do well when the games begin. He is convinced that mentally, he and Lang are at par.
So far, Wagner, who previously played for the Baltimore Ravens, has proven to be a worthwhile acquisition for the Detroit Lions. His performance on the offense during practice has left no doubt that he will deliver when the season begins. Lang, on the other hand, has yet to leave a legacy due to his injury. His limited presence during practice has not given him a chance to establish a legacy with the Lions. However, his past experience and performance is more than assured, which is perhaps why Wagner is not worried.
Lang may have to sit out more practice sessions until he is well enough to get into the field. He has however been participating in the team’s padded sessions, although not consistently. For instance, he missed two such sessions consecutively, and he will get another day of rest with Tuesday being an off-day.
The team’s coach, Jim Caldwell, is also not worried much about Lang’s injury. This is mostly because he knows that the two free agents are not new to the game and that their defensive game is nothing short of amazing. They have proven themselves over the years and it is highly likely that they will not disappoint the Lions either. He, however, accepts that it usually takes a while for two players to build “chemistry” between them, which could be a challenge for Lang and Wagner. But should things remain as they are currently, the team has nothing to fear since the chemistry between the two players is quite obvious.
If you are a Lions fan, there is really no cause for alarm due to Lang’s injury; his own teammates are not worried, so you really shouldn’t worry much either.
