TMZ Sports is reporting that legendary wrestling personality Ric Flair is hospitalized and in intensive care. He has been placed in a medically-induced coma and is prepared to undergo surgery, according to sources.

Flair, 68, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning for what was described as “routine monitoring” for heart-related problems. However, conditions have since then worsened as the weekend progressed.
Legacy Talent CEO Melinda Morris Zanoni had this to share regarding the urgent issue, asking for “prayers & positive energy” from friends and fans of Ric Flair.

Flair has been involved in professional wrestling in some capacity for the better part of 50+ years, 40 of which was as a wrestler (retired in 2012). He’s earned a reputation as “one of the most charismatic personalities in the history of that business.” His career began way back in the early 1970’s but he really made his name in the field in the early- to mid-1990’s during the era of the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling.
ESPN writer Tim Fiorvanti also added this bit regarding the overally impact Flair has had throughout his career:
His popularity and personality have transcended into the world of professional sports on many occasions, with players recreating some of his most famous wrestling promos and Flair himself often called to serve as a motivational speaker.
Later this fall (November 7), ESPN will be airing a documenting highliting Ric Flair and his illustrious career, aptly named “Nature Boy” as part of their 30 for 30 film series. To this day, he continues to be an icon and replicated on all platforms of sports and entertainment, perhaps none fewer than his famed “Wooo!” shout.
One of his more famous lines is, “To be the man, you gotta beat the man.” He later turned that into an autobiography. Ric Flair has indeed beat the man countless times throughout his career, and fans worldwide have his back as he tries to beat his current health condition.
