Olympia Entertainment has announced Little Caesars Arena Preview Week in anticipation of the LCA’s grand opening. The brand new stadium worth $862.9 million will be open to the public from September 5-10, before its official christening on September 12. Below is a list of activities available to fans:
September 5 – Ribbon Cutting ceremony
September 8 – Charity Premier: Hard Hats & Helping Hands
September 9 – Community Sneak Peek
September 10 – 2nd Annual Hockeytown 5K
Private tours will also be available during this week to Red Wings and Pistons season ticket holders, partners, and suite holders.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Michigan native Kid Rock will be the first to use the world-class stadium, playing his first of six scheduled concerts starting on September 12.
The Red Wings first home preseason game is scheduled to be September 23 against the Boston Bruins and their regular season home opener will be October 5 against the Minnesota Wild.
The Pistons will play their first home preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets on October 4, two weeks before their first official game at LCA on October 18, also against the Hornets.
Other notable events include: UFC 218 (December 2), college basketball doubleheader (December 16), and the first weekend of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament (March of 2018) as well as other concerts which can be found listed here.
ABOUT THE ARENA
Owned by Olympia Entertainment, Little Caesars Arena will have the largest center-hung scoreboard in the NHL. Each side of the scoreboard measures approximately 28 feet high by 43.5 feet wide meaning there will be a 13,500-square-foot viewing area.
The 20,000-seat stadium will be home to the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Pistons, as well other concerts and events. Situated in the newly-formed District Detroit, Little Caesars Arena will no doubt be the center piece of the district which is expected to expand to include new commercial and residential buildings over a 50-block radius.
