In his weekly press conference, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said Wilton Speight will start in Saturday’s home opener against Cincinnati, but he won’t be the only quarterbacks to take the field against the Bearcats:

In the season-opening 33-17 win over Florida, Speight had a pedestrian line at best. He completed just 11 of his 25 passes for 181 yards and one touchdown. Speight also threw interceptions on back-to-back series in the second quarter, both of which the Gators returned for touchdowns.

John O’Korn came in after those two interceptions for a few series and completed the only pass he threw for 37 yards, but he also took two sacks.

Speight only threw seven interceptions all of last year, but four of them came in his last three appearances against Iowa, Ohio State, and in the Orange Bowl against Florida State. Six interceptions in four games are why Speight does not have a clear lock on the job.
