It is the most exciting time of the year as the NFL season kicks off this weekend. Which means the Detroit Lions season is about to begin. The Lions have their roster finalized and are gearing up to take on the Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday. Expectations are high in Detroit, but one writer has raised them even higher.
There’s at least one person, who lives in Arizona, who will be rooting for the Lions this season–as a columnist for the Arizona Republic has picked them to win the Super Bowl.
Yes, you read that correctly, a sports writer has picked the 2017 Detroit Lions to win the Super Bowl.
As ridiculous as the idea of the Lions winning the Super Bowl may seem, some of us Lions faithful believe it could happen. After all, we have Matthew Stafford.
But the prediction didn’t come from purely statistical selection, nor does it seem that this columnist has a special magic eight ball either. Apparently, the columnist, one Mr. Greg Moore, has been making the pick for quite some time.
“But there’s a catch. Moore was born and raised in Detroit. He said he learned to read from the Detroit Free Press. And he has a certain tradition every year with his NFL predictions.”
As any Lion fan will tell you, it takes a certain amount of blind hope to support the boys in Honolulu blue, year after disappointing year. As the season is about to start, it is time to drink the Kool-Aid once again and believe that the Lions will win their first Super Bowl in team history.
