One day prior to their Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Detroit Lions have announced they have released linebacker Nick Bellore and have signed offensive tackle Storm Norton to the active roster.

Bellore, who played college football at Central Michigan University, was originally part of the Lions 53-man roster, which was revealed last week. Prior to being released, he was considered the Lions No. 6 linebacker and was expected to play on special teams.

Despite being released, Bellore could very well find himself back with the Lions before he knows it. Since he is being released prior to the Week 1 game, Detroit would have the option of re-signing him without having to guarantee his salary for the 2017 season.

Norton, who was waived by the Lions on September 2nd and signed to the practice squad on September 3rd, rejoins the team for the first game. He was originally signed by Detroit in May as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Toledo.
