Two weeks ago, the Detroit Lions made Matthew Stafford the highest paid player in NFL history when the two sides agreed to a $135 million deal.
As soon as the news broke, the “so-called” experts around the nation started spewing their opinions. Some agreed with the move, noting that Stafford is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, while others destroyed the deal, saying Stafford is a loser and alway will be a loser.
On talking head who made his opinion absolutely clear was ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who ripped Stafford for “cashing in” on a deal when he has yet to win a playoff game.
“There is just something about me that has a problem with individuals that end up cashing in when the team never seems to,” Smith said on ESPN First Take. “It’s not his fault, and I get that…but when you are the $27 million man, largest annual salary in NFL history, damn, could you win a playoff game?”
Well, on Sunday, following Stafford’s pick-6 to start off the season, Stephen A. Smith rushed to Twitter to double down on his ignorant opinion.

Of course, Stafford supporters everywhere rushed to his defense and tweeted back at Smith, some of them really going for the jugular. But the best of the best came from the Detroit Lions themselves as they tweeted out the following.

Game… Set… Match!
Sure, Stafford may have thrown a pick-6 on his first pass of the season, bringing out the Twitter trolls. But when all was said and done, he tossed four touchdown passes as the Lions started off the season with a 35-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
The Lions always seem to make us sit at the edge of our seat the last two quarters they need to do that all the way thru from the beginning.
