If you are a fan of the Michigan Wolverines, one of the bright spots so far this season has been a true freshman receiver.
So far, through three games, Tarik Black leads the Wolverines in both catches (11) and yards (149). His one touchdown grab also happens to tie him for the team lead.
Unfortunately, news broke on Monday that Black has a broken foot and will need surgery. There is no timetable for his return and there is a chance he could miss the remainder of the 2017 season.

“He’s going to be out. He’s going to need surgery. He’s got a crack in his foot,” Harbaugh said. “On the outside of his foot.”
With Black being sidelined, chances are that his fellow true freshman receiver, Donovan Peoples-Jones will be forced into more action, especially on passing downs.
Peoples-Jones, who opened some eyes by returning a punt for a touchdown on Saturday against Air Force, was the top-ranked prep receiver in the country for the Class of 2017.
The Wolverines may be off to a 3-0 start, but there is no question about it that the offense, which is led by quarterback Wilton Speight, has struggled. In fact, through three games, Michigan’s offense has only scored five total touchdowns and has really struggled to convert in the red zone.
Michigan’s first test without their talented freshman, Black, will come this Saturday when they travel to Purdue to take on the Boilermakers. According to Las Vegas, Michigan opened as a 10-point favorite to beat their first Big Ten opponent of the 2017 season.
