This past Sunday, the Detroit Lions were just seconds away from starting off the season 3-0. In fact, what likely would have been the game-winning touchdown was signaled by the officials and it looked like the Lions had defeated the Falcons.

That is until it was reviewed and determined that Golden Tate was actually short of the goal line. To make matters worse, because the Lions had no timeouts remaining, a 10-second runoff was applied and the game was over.

Following the game, Lions coaches and players were asked about the controversial play and for the most part, they made it clear that they were not going to dwell on the play but were going to move on to their next opponent, the Minnesota Vikings.

On Tuesday, Lions guard T.J. Lang joined Mike Valenti on 97.1 The Ticket and talked about the final play of the game.

We agree, T.J., it should have been a touchdown.

This coming Sunday, the Lions will look to rebound from their loss to the Falcons when they travel to Minnesota to take on the 2-1 Vikings in a very important NFC North matchup.

In 2016, the Lions got the best of the Vikings in both of their head to head matchups and you can bet Minnesota will be looking for revenge this time around.

So far in 2017, the Vikings have won both of their home games, which includes a Week 1 win over the New Orleans Saints and a Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  1. If that was Green Bay, it would have been a touchdown, just like some of those penalties TJ is getting with the Lions. If he was still with GB, the refs would have kept those flags in their pockets or picked them up. Welcome to Detroit, TJ!”
