LOOK: Detroit Lions vs. Carolina Panthers point spread released

So, how many of you thought the Detroit Lions would be 3-1 after the first quarter of the 2017 NFL season?

Ok, we see a few of you raising your hand out there (though we don’t believe you).

Following a 14-7 road win over the Minnesota Vikings, the Lions sit atop of the NFC North along with the hated Green Bay Packers, who destroyed the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football.

This coming Sunday, the Lions have a chance to move to 4-1 if they can figure out a way to beat Cam Newton and the 3-1 Carolina Panthers at Ford Field. The Panthers, who are coming off an impressive 33-30 win on the road against the New England Patriots, look much more like their 2015 team that finished 15-1 and went to the Super Bowl than their 2016 team that only won six games.

According to the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas, the Lions opened as a 2.5 point home favorite over the Panthers. That spread, which was released on Sunday evening, has since jumped up to 3 points.

Through four games, the Lions are 3-1 against the spread with their only loss coming as a 3 point underdog to the Atlanta Falcons. As we are well aware, the Falcons escaped Ford Field with a 30-26 win when Golden Tate’s would-be go-ahead touchdown was reversed and a 10-second runoff was applied.

  1. I don’t understand what people don’t see i know The Detroit Lions backed into the Playoffs in 2016 but they made it so why are media types asking are the Lions for real now the 3-1 start that should be 4-0 isn’t surpring now Matt Stafford and the offense hasn’t been great but their Defense has been great so has special teems and the offense hasn’t turned the ball over much and have run the football a bit.The Defense is plus 9 in turn over ratio this usually adds up to wins. So i ask again what’s so surprising!
