Ever since Michigan’s win at Purdue on Sept. 23, one of the biggest questions for head coach Jim Harbaugh has been which quarterback would get the nod against Michigan State on Oct. 7.
Well, the wait is over and on Monday, Harbaugh told media members that John O’Korn will make the start against the Spartans this coming Saturday night at Michigan Stadium.

O’Korn replaced Wilton Speight at quarterback when Speight was injured against Purdue.
Harbaugh also added that Brandon Peters will be the backup quarterback on Saturday while true freshman Dylan McCaffrey will be third-string.

John O’Korn replaced Wilton Speight in the first quarter after Speight was knocked out of the game with an injury. O’Korn went on to complete 18 of 26 passes for 270 yards and a touchdown as the Wolverines defeated Purdue 28-10 on the road.
“It meant a lot for me, even if I don’t play the rest of the year, to be able to go out and beat my former coach,” O’Korn said. “It was a big moment for me. Call it whatever you want.”
With Speight missing “multiple weeks” at the least, O’Korn will be forced to take the reigns of a Michigan team that has been led by the defense, up to this point. If he can play like he did against Purdue, there is no reason why this Wolverines team can not make a run at a Big Ten East title.
The 4-0 and No. 7 ranked Wolverines will look to remain unbeaten when the host (3-1) Michigan State this coming Saturday under the lights.
