For those of you who followed college football in 2016, you probably have heard plenty about P.J. Fleck.

Fleck, who is currently the head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers, coached the 2016 Western Michigan Broncos to a 13-0 regular season and a berth in the Cotton Bowl, where they fell 24-16 to the Wisconsin Badgers.

This coming Saturday, Fleck and the Golden Gophers will host Michigan State, who is coming off a HUGE 14-10 road win over Michigan. On Tuesday, Fleck was asked by reporters during his weekly press conference if he was surprised that the Spartans beat the Wolverines and his response was, well, pretty accurate.

From MLive:

“I think they’ve beaten them 8 out of the last 10 times so I don’t think you can be surprised at all,” Fleck said during his Tuesday press conference. “I think it would almost be the other way. If Michigan beats Michigan State you should be surprised in these times.”

Though Michigan slappies may get their panties in a bunch over Fleck’s comment, it was the truth. Michigan State HAS won 8 of their last 10 meetings against Michigan, including winning both games in the Big House since Jim Harbaugh took over as the Wolverines head coach.

After winning their first two games of the season under Fleck, Minnesota got a nice taste of reality as they dropped their first two Big Ten games against Maryland and Purdue. If they want to pick up their first conference win of the season, they will have to beat Michigan State, who is currently listed as a 4-point favorite, on Saturday night.
