JUST IN: Michigan opens as HUGE underdog against Penn State

When the No. 19 Michigan Wolverines travel to Happy Valley to take on No. 2 Penn State, they will do so as an underdog. That does not come as a huge surprise, but what is surprising is that the Wolverines opened up as such an overwhelming underdog against the Nittany Lions.

On Sunday, the Wynn Las Vegas posted their opening line and had Penn State listed as a 10.5 favorite over Michigan. That quickly dropped to Penn State -10 and that is where it currently sits.

If Michigan wants to get back in the College Football Playoff hunt, they will likely have to run the table. That feat will be one of the most difficult in college football this season as the Wolverines have games against No. 2 Penn State, No. 5 Wisconsin, and No. 6 Ohio State all staring them straight in the face.

Penn State, on the other hand, is in a great position to make a run at the CFP, and it all starts with Michigan on Saturday night. Their toughest remaining opponents, not including the Big Ten Championship Game, are at No. 6 Ohio State and at No. 18 Michigan State.

The Wolverines (5-1) are coming off a 27-20 overtime win at Indiana while the unbeaten (6-0) Nittany Lions will be well-rested after their bye week.
