From ABC 6:

According to police Smith was stopped at the DUI checkpoint at 9 p.m.

Deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana in his vehicle.

He was diverted into the diversion area for further investigation.

Smith refused all field tests and denied being impaired.

Deputies found various paraphernalia in the vehicle.

The vehicle was impounded and he was given a summons to appear in court.

Smith has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and OVI.

Smith, of course, played for the Buckeyes from 2003-2006. During his final season in Columbus, he won the Heisman Trophy after throwing for 30 touchdowns and only six interceptions.
