If you were to poll Detroit Lions fans asking them to vote for one player on the team they would love to move before the trade deadline, an overwhelming majority would surely go to one player.

That player, of course, is none other than tight end, Eric Ebron.

Ever since the very moment he was selected by the Lions with the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Ebron has been criticized right and left. That criticism not only has come from Lions fans but also from the so-called “experts” around the league. To be fair, the majority of that criticism has been brought on by Ebron himself, who just cannot seem to figure out how to avoid dropping the football.

Though his overall numbers have improved each year (with the exception of touchdowns), Ebron’s name continues to be one that is brought up every time the word “trade” is mentioned.

On Tuesday, a piece titled, “NFL trade deadline: Seven viable player-team pairings” was published on NFL.com and, of course, Ebron made the list. The piece matched up potential trade candidates with teams in need of each respective position and as you can see below, the potential landing spot for Ebron is the Denver Broncos.

From NFL.com:

Eric Ebron, TE, Detroit Lions

Ebron has yet to achieve liftoff during his star-crossed run with the Lions. While he looks the part at 6-foot-4 and 253 pounds, Ebron has failed to outshine fellow Lions tight end Darren Fells this autumn. Admitting recently that he’s been “in the dumps,” Ebron is averaging a career-low 7.8 yards per reception for Detroit. The potential is there, though, making him an interesting trade candidate for the right team.

POTENTIAL LANDING SPOT: Denver Broncos

Denver would make sense, as quarterback Trevor Siemian lacks a game-changing tight end in an offense that has struggled over the past four games. While rookie Jake Butt is expected to make his debut later this season after a December ACL tear, Ebron would have an immediate role with the Broncos and a chance to revive his career.

It would not be much of a surprise at all if the Lions were to deal Ebron before the NFL trade deadline on October 31 as they have already begun to phase him out of the offense. After being targeted seven times in Week 4 against the Falcons, he was targeted five times in Week 5 against the Panthers and just three times in Week 6 in a loss to the Saints.

It will not be long before we know Ebron’s fate, one way or the other, as the Halloween trade deadline is just a week away.
