The Lions have worked out wide receiver Jake Kumerow, Adam Caplan of NFL insiders has reported.
Kumerow has spent the last couple seasons on the Bengals practice squad. He played his first college ball at the University of Illinois before transferring to Wisconsin Whitewater. Kumerow is an impressive specimen standing at 6 foot 5 he found great success his last two seasons at Whitewater grabbing 32 touchdowns and accumulating over two thousand yards receiving. Bleacher Report did a great story about Kumerow in 2015 detailing his interesting backstory involving a father that was also drafted by the NFL and a crime syndicate – it’s an interesting read.

The news could indicate that Golden Tate will not be ready to play this coming weekend. With Kenny Golladay’s status also uncertain the Lions could find themselves quite thin at the reviver position. Bringing in Kumerow would provide some much-needed depth at the receiver position.
The Lions receivers have been less than stellar over the course of the season. Tate leads the team with 363 yards, but behind him, the only wide receiver with over 175 yards is Marvin Jones who has grabbed 20 passes for 280 yards. With another underwhelming season from Eric Ebron who has managed to catch only 13 passes for measly 102 yards, Detroit is in need of help with their pass catchers. The prospect of being without Golden Tate for even a week is not a pleasant one.

Heres to hoping that Jake Kumerow is a diamond in the rough type find and that the Lions can make a move to improve the team not only next week but in the long term. Detroit is certainly in need of a good break.
