With Sunday evening’s tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the horizon, questions regarding the health of the team are still being lofted around like a pass out of Matthew Stafford‘s right hand. While we still don’t have a conclusive answer on the official status of some of the players, Jace Billingsley‘s promotion to the active roster goes a long ways in helping us figure out a position that might be in trouble.

Billingsley, an undrafted free agent from the 2016 class, has yet to appear in a regular season game in the NFL. He has, however, been on the practice squad with Detroit since his arrival in the Motor City.

The Lions are in currently in a precarious position at wide receiver as a result of injuries. Fellow wide receiver Golden Tate, who sustained a shoulder injury in Detroit’s last game against the New Orleans Saints, is likely to miss this weekend’s game. Although we don’t have official word on Tate’s status yet, initial word was that he is expected to “likely miss a few weeks”, and he is not even listed on Detroit’s current depth chart.

There hasn’t been any word on rookie wideout Kenny Golladay, who has missed the last two games, either. One would imagine that since he was listed as “questionable” for the team’s game two weeks ago before the bye week, that we should probably feel comfortable expecting that he’ll be in the lineup this weekend, but nothing has been confirmed to this point. Latest word on Golladay was that he was a member of practice.

If both Tate and Golladay end up sitting out this weekend, TJ Jones likely jumps up to the number two spot on the depth chart, with Jared Abbrederis and Billingsley slotting in at three and four. Of course, Marvin Jones would be the number one receiver.
