JUST IN: Detroit Lions work out former Packers offensive lineman

The Detroit Lions offensive line could certainly be in better shape as the team prepares for their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Tuesday, tackles Greg Robinson and Emmett Clearly (both with ankle injuries) were forced to miss practice, leaving the Lions without much depth on the offensive line.

According to reports, the Lions worked out former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Don Barclay on Tuesday.

Barclay, who was originally signed by the Packers as a undrafted rookie free agent in 2012, has played in 62 career games (24 starts), all with Green Bay. Prior to the start of the 2017 season, he signed a 1-year, $1.3 million deal with the Packers but was placed on injured reserve just before the regular season started. On Monday, Barclay was released by the Packers with an injury settlement.

Though signing Barclay is not exactly what the Lions were hoping for at this point of the season, they may not have much of a choice as the offensive line is a disaster. As we noted, both Robinson and Cleary are banged up, Corey Robinson will remain on injured reserve for a while longer, and there still has not been an announcement as to when starting left tackle Taylor Decker will be able to return to the lineup.

One thing is for certain, if the Lions offensive line does not get healthy soon, it will be a very long rest of the season for quarterback Matthew Stafford and the offense.

3 wide receivers the Detroit Lions MUST consider trading for immediately

Trainwreck.

That is the first word that comes to my mind when thinking about the Detroit Lions current wide receiver situation. With leading receiver Golden Tate expected to miss multiple weeks with a shoulder injury and rookie wideout Kenny Golladay attempting to get back into action after missing time, the Lions need to make a move and the need to make that move NOW!

With the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline coming fast, general manager Bob Quinn has to make a trade to improve the Lions receiver situation immediately or risk everything by standing pat.

Here are three wide receivers who Quinn MUST consider trading for.

Martavis Bryant – Pittsburgh Steelers

If you have been following the NFL news even a little bit, you have probably heard that Martavis Bryant is not happy with his current situation in Pittsburgh and it is obvious he would prefer to be traded. Now, the Steelers have said publically that Bryant is not available to be traded but anyone with a brain knows they would part ways with him for the right return.
