The Lions do not play until Monday night when they face the Packers. The extra day might be just what the doctor ordered for Kenny Golladay. The rookie receiver, who has not played since the week 3 loss to Atlanta, was back on the practice field on Saturday.

Golladay suffered a hamstring injury against the Falcons and has attempted to return to practice multiple times, but he has not been healthy enough to get back on the field on game day.

Golladay, a third-round pick out of Northern Illinois, burst onto the scene in his first regular-season game when he caught four passes for 69 yards, including a pair of touchdowns. One of them was absolutely spectacular. He was held to just three total catches over the next two games before the injury.

While practicing is a big sign, it does not ensure he will be able to play in Green Bay.

The Lions offense could certainly use any boost they can get. They are averaging just 324 total yards per game, 19th of the 32 NFL teams. That average was greatly boosted by their 482-yard performance in the loss to the Steelers, but they didn’t score a single touchdown in that game. That is another spot Detroit could use a big target like Golladay. They are scoring TDs on only 45% of their trips into the Red Zone, sixth worst in the League. Over their last three games, the Lions’ percentage in that category dropped to a measly 30%.

Despite missing the last month, Golladay’s two scores ties him for second in wide receiver touchdowns with Golden Tate. They trail only Marvin Jones, who has three.
