NFL: Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions Glover Quin points out Jared Goff weakness

No matter how you slice it, the hated Green Bay Packers have owned the NFC North since it began in 2002. During that time, they have won nine division titles including five of the past six.

Unfortunately for the Detroit Lions and their fans, they have been the complete opposite in terms of success in the North. In fact, the Lions have not won a single NFC North title in 15 tries, which makes them the only team in the division not to win a division crown during that time.

In 2016, the Lions had a golden opportunity to finally get over the hump.

After winning eight out of nine games to move their record to 9-4, the Lions had a two-game lead over the 7-6 Packers with just three games to play. Detroit dropped the next two games to the Giants and Cowboys while Green Bay beat Chicago and Minnesota to tie things up with the Lions heading into their Week 17 battle at Ford Field for the NFC North title.

As you know, the Packers took care of business, winning the game 31-24 in what may have been one of the most disappointing results in Lions history.

One player who knows exactly what the Lions must do to surpass the Packers in the NFC North is safety, Glover Quin. Prior to the start of the season, Quin had some strong comments regarding the Packers.

“I think, I talked about it last year, having the mindset of sometimes you just got to knock out the bully,” Quin said. “In the division, Green Bay has won it a lot of years, and sometimes you can go in with that mindset that it may be bigger than what it really is. So we just have to relax, play our game, do what we do every single day.”

The Lions will have their first shot to “knock out the bully” when they invade Lambeau Field tonight on Monday Night Football. Obviously, beating Green Bay on MNF is a tall task but you can be sure Quin and his Lions teammates will certainly be ready to battle, even if Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is out with injury.
