We may not have seen the end of Wilton Speight this season after all. During his weekly press conference on Monday, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh said there is a chance that Speight could return this season.

“There’s more second opinions to be had, I know Wilton is really excited about the results of the most recent CAT scan”, Harbaugh said. “It’s kind of stunned, maybe it’ll sound over the top, I think some of the doctors are a bit stunned that it’s so far along. He’s healing well. Young guys can do that sometimes. Good blood flow throughout their body, noticed it with these guys that are right there. They’re young, they’re healthy and he’s healing fast.”

Harbaugh added that sophomore quarterback Brandon Peters will start again against Maryland on Saturday and that if Speight returns, he will take a wait-and-see approach.

“As we said like always when somebody is back that’s when we will address that. When’s he’s back out there and competing.” Harbaugh went on to say that Speight has been cleared to do some light throwing and exercises, but hasn’t yet been cleared for contact.

Michigan also got some other great news on Monday. Harbaugh said ‘there’s a good chance of return’ for four other Wolverines to return to action this weekend.

That list includes offensive lineman Michael Onwenu, running back Ty Isaac, wide receiver Grant Perry, and tight end Tyrone Wheatley Jr.

“There’s a very good chance that all could be back Saturday”, Harbaugh said. “They’re questionable.”
