Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones has proven that he can catch a football, now he will tackle another challenge when he tries to catch a golden ticket to Hollywood on American Idol.
Yes, American Idol is back airing and Marvin Jones will look to wow the judges like he did on Monday Night Football against the Packers, when he caught seven passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
This is not some publicity stunt, Marvin Jones has legit talent behind the mic. Jones recently sent out a tweet alerting his fans about the exciting news. The smooth route runner will look to see how far his smooth R&B vocals can take him in the reality music competition show.
The full feature of his first audition will air on ESPN during Sunday NFL Countdown at 10 a.m. ET.
Jones has been a nice and welcomed addition to the Lions since coming to Motown from Cincinnati a couple years ago via free agency, proving he belongs in the NFL and as a major weapon for quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Now he will look to add another dimension to the rich musical history of Motown. Musical artists and American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Katie Perry will get to decide if his vocals belong on the big show.
The show has launched the career of many popular and successful artists. Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry are among of the most famous contestants. Is Marvin Jones the next superstar to join this list of American Idol alum?
